In this fun foundation class, you will teach your dog to walk politely on a leash. Your dog will also learn a basic obedience commands such as sit, down, come, and stay using positive reinforcement. This class is a wonderful way to build a relationship with your dog as you learn to communicate effectively with each other. It may be determined that some dogs are ready to be evaluated for the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) at the end of this course.
Dog must be current on all vaccinations
Trainer must be at least 16 years of age (well-behaved children are welcome to come watch if you bring a chair for them)
Collar & Leash – Your dog should have a properly fitting collar (martingale-style collars are highly recommended). Leashes should be six feet long and made of either leather or nylon. Flexi-leashes, retractable, and chain leashes are not acceptable.
Treats – Our classes use food rewards to reinforce correct behaviors. Please bring “high-value” treats for your dog. A high-value treat is one your dog is sure to get excited about and work for. Your dog will be more motivated by treats they only get during training.
Water – Please bring either a bowl or water dispenser so that your dog can have a drink during breaks.
Courtesy – Please exercise the "3-foot rule." Every dog should have three feet in front, behind, and on both sides at all times. This is not only basic obedience school courtesy, but it is also important for safety.
Tuition – $90.00 ($92 if paying by credit card, Venmo or PayPal)
